Fellow hikers and I traversed the beautiful Matemateonga track in the North Island of New Zealand. We popped out of the bush at the amazing ‘Bridge to Nowhere Lodge’. A speedy jet boat ride had us up at the old bridge, on the Whanganui River in no time at all. So hard to imagine trying to farm this land in years gone by.
